Talks Between Russian, U.S. Delegations Remain Ongoing
(MENAFN) Talks between a Russian delegation, headed by Kirill Dmitriev, an aide to President Vladimir Putin, and representatives of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, entered their third day on Sunday.
The discussions have been focused on conveying Moscow's stance to the U.S. counterparts, according to Dmitriev, who is also the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
In a video message shared on Telegram, Dmitriev emphasized that President Putin’s position was being made clear: only "constructive, respectful dialogue will bear fruit" and any attempts to exert pressure on Russia are "simply pointless."
He further stated that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine could only be resolved by "eradicating its root causes."
The Russian delegation has also provided updates on various issues, including economic matters and the situation on the frontlines, Dmitriev revealed.
He added that some parties have attempted to either withhold this information or distort it before presenting it to U.S. leaders.
On the economic front, Dmitriev highlighted the positive state of Russia’s economy, noting that the ruble had emerged as the "most successful currency this year," having appreciated around 40% against the U.S. dollar.
The delegation also briefed the U.S. representatives on the latest developments in the Ukraine conflict, which were discussed during Putin’s meeting with the Russian General Staff earlier that same day.
